Enrolling at Derinya
We currently have a DET designated zone around the school within which all enrolments will be accepted. This modified zone map will take effect on 1st January 2019 for students wishing to enrol at Derinya Primary School. All students who are currently enrolled for the 2019 school year and find themselves outside of this new zoning area (including Foundation students) will have their enrolment honoured.
All requests from parents and carers living outside the designated Derinya Primary School Zone will be considered by the Principal.
When requests have been made for enrolment from outside the zone, students may possibly be enrolled using the following priority order as outlined in the Department’s Placement Policy provided space is available at the appropriate year level:
• Students with a sibling at the same permanent address who are attending the school at the same time
• Where the Regional Director has restricted the enrolment, students who reside nearest the school
• Students seeking enrolment on specific curriculum grounds
• All other students in order of closeness of their home to the school
• In exceptional circumstances, compassionate grounds at the Principal’s discretion
Please contact the School Enrolment Officer if you have further queries or join our tours on the first Monday of each month during school terms.
Foundation (Prep) Enrolment
Once you've decided to enrol your student at Derinya, you can collect an enrolment form from the front desk. Alternatively, you can fill in your details at the bottom of this page and have one mailed directly to you. Please be aware that you will be required to show proof of residence as our zones are tightly regulated. You'll also be required to provide a copy of your child's immunisation history as a part of the enrolment process.
If you're interested in enrolling your child/ren at Derinya you are welcome to tour the school. We host guided tours with either our Principal or Assistant Principals on the first Monday of each month. If you'd like to reserve a place for either of the tours, please fill out the relevant form below.
Foundation Tours and Transition for 2019 Foundation Students
Our extensive transition program commences in Term 3 and transition days are held once a month until the end of the year. When the tour and transition dates for 2019 have been established, they will be posted below.
At these transition sessions, the students will get the chance to spend time with all of our current Foundation teachers, whilst new parents enjoy sessions hosted by our Principal and Assistant Principals, learning about life as a school parent.
