Dear Parents, Students and Friends of Derinya,
COLOUR MY WORLD
Congratulations to all students who performed in the Senior Production at Frankston Arts Centre last Monday. The students had a huge day starting in the morning with rehearsal followed by a Matinee performance. It was fabulous for all 460 students from grades 3 – 6 to experience live theatre and the actual running of a production. They had a great time back stage and the day flew by with everyone so excited to perform. Congrats to our actors who were brilliant. Keeping 460 engaged, in tune, on time and well dressed is no mean feat and we are blessed to have such a wonderful performing arts teacher in Lindi Morrison who writes, produces, choreographs, organises costumes and props and backdrops so capably. Lindi is a tireless worker and has high expectations of all students to perform to their potential. Great job Lindi!
We thank Lindi for her fabulous work in performing arts and hope that you all enjoyed the show. Many thanks to all staff who supported Lindi taking on roles with choreography, making backdrops with students, taking choir, coordinating other dance groups, making programs, ticketing, etc. It was a great team effort and we are blessed with a fabulous staff. Many thanks also to parents who helped with costumes.
Last Friday we held the official opening of Natasha’s Kitchen on the block. It was a very touching ceremony attended by Natasha’s family and other community members and we were blessed with a stunning morning. The senior choir sang so beautifully and really gave the ceremony a sense of joy and pride. Congratulations to all involved with this wonderful project. The students are thoroughly enjoying their kitchen garden experience and it is wonderful having so many parents involved also. Every grade will spend a day in the kitchen this year to experience different real life learning. The cost of the food and the hiring of the kitchen supervisor Jackie has been funded by our school fees for this year. Great work Derinya.
Prep Transition: Today we held our second transition day for our 2020 Preps. The children have settled in so well already and we are blessed with lovely families to complement our school community. Our captains addressed the group of parents and spoke with great articulation. We couldn’t be prouder! Our little Foundation Fun dance group also performed and were beautiful.
Father’s Day Shop: Huge thanks to Suzanne Chivers and Janelle Hogan for their great work in coordinating the Father’s Day Shop. Some lovely gifts for dad to be purchased by all. Wishing all of our lovely Dads, father Figures, Grandpas and or significant males in our children’s lives. Thank you to all you do for our children. Hoping you can have some quality time with your children this Sunday.
Happy Father’s Day
