Thanks for a great term everyone. It has seemed like a long term with many things being accomplished. Thank you to our great staff who have worked hard to progress their childrens’ learning in all areas. Huge thanks to all parents for terrific support and to our great students. The children are tired and are ready for a break. It would be great if all children could be encouraged to keep reading over the holidays please. Try to get into some good books!!
I hope that everyone can get involved in the Active April Campaign for Family Fitness. Don’t forget to register under Derinya PS. Congratulations to our terrific Derinya Community for supporting our Twilight Fair last Friday. It was a great night which just made it in time before the rain. Many stalls and stage normally on the oval had to be squished in the stadium and everyone accommodated it so well. Huge thanks to Anita Smith and Jo Quirke and the community connect team for their great organisation in leading the fair. The earlier start worked well and the children got to make the most of the rides. It was unsafe to hold the fireworks sponsored by Their Care, our after school care provider, so these were postponed. These will be held at another event later in the year. The final wash up saw us raise in the vicinity of $20,000 which will be going towards the new playground which the student leaders will help in designing. This will form part of our work around student voice and agency. Once again, huge thanks to all parents, staff and children who came together to make this night so successful. It was also lovely to see much needed rain at 7.30pm! $500 from our funds raise will be donated to the Royal Childrens’ Hospital Good Friday Appeal by the SRC.
