Dear Parents, Students and Friends of Derinya,
Our Science Expo is being held next Tuesday evening. We are looking forward to students bringing in their projects tomorrow so that we can set up displays for the Expo. On Monday and Tuesday all classes will attend the Expo and students will teach other students about their investigations. The Expo will be open for families between 6pm and 8pm. We would encourage the junior families to come between 6pm and 7pm and will have the fireworks between 6.45pm and 7.15pm light dependent. Then we would encourage senior students to come along with their families and view the displays and talk about the science behind the investigations. The aim is to promote family conversations and celebrate the initiative of others. There will also be lots of ideas to promote thinking and a great time for families to share learning. Children must stay with families when the fireworks display is on and all visitors are asked to stay on the playground along Derinya Drive. There will be an exclusion zone between the Prep building and the middle of the oval marked with bollards. Looking forward to a great night as we head into school holidays!! We need to distribute firework notification flyers to the local neighbours in the surrounding streets on Friday and Saturday. Please call the office if you can assist.
