A busy start to Term 3 has seen us prepare for the 44th Derinya Art & Craft Exhibition (DACE) as well as open the doors to our new Kitchen Garden program. We’re looking forward to a big opening night tonight and hope to see everyone throughout the weekend.
Children write at home for many different purposes. Some children write with enthusiasm and independence. They may create storybooks, lists, letters to Santa or notes to friends. Other children may only write at home when they are doing their homework or writing in a birthday card.
As a parent it can be difficult to decide how to support your child with their writing. We often draw on our own experiences in the classroom, thinking back to the way we were taught by our teachers or the ways in which our parents tried to help us.
It’s that time of year again where we start building momentum for DACE and we cast the net out in the search for volunteers. Our teachers were also treated to some delicious pumpkin soup in the new kitchen yesterday as we inch closer to our opening.
Welcome back to Derinya for Term 2! We’ve got a busy term ahead and we’re pleased to announce that our Grade 4s will be moving back into their classroom after the unfortunate fire last term. The classroom is looking better than ever!
Thank you to the Derinya Community for contributing to the magnificent fundraiser Bears on Stairs from World Vision. Thanks to Derinya Mum Sarah Ballard, working for World Vision, who has done a terrific job getting the Community on board for another year and we’re overwhelmed at the support shown by the children.
Thanks for a great term everyone. It has seemed like a long term with many things being accomplished. Thank you to our great staff who have worked hard to progress their childrens’ learning in all areas. Huge thanks to all parents for terrific support and to our great students.
